This is going to be a very basic introduction to the seasonal mechanics and storyline, but if you want something a little bit more in-depth, let me know in the comments, and I’ll see what I can throw together.

With that all said, let’s get into it.

The Story So Far

We begin our tale with a meeting of the minds between Zavala, Osiris and Empress Caitl, daughter of the exiled Emperor Calus and leader of the Cabal Empire. She wants mankind to join her empire in exchange for standing with them to stave off the invasion of the Hive and the Darkness. Unwilling to bend the knee, Zavala tells her where to shove it.

And so, whether we like it or not, we’ve stepped into a war with the Cabal in the Sol system. So let’s get to taking out their command, one by one.

From what I can gather one of them commands a group of Red Legion survivors from an Imperial Land Tank outside Watcher’s Grave. He’s well protected, but with the right team, you can punch through those defences, take this beast out, and break their grip on Nessus.

Can we get 100 likes for some A+ copypasta?

Battlegrounds

After the cutscene you’ll drop right into Battlegrounds, the new match-made 3-player PvE event introduced this season. These are basically mini Strikes, where you and two other guardians will fight wave after wave of Cabal in order to achieve some objective before taking out a particularly gruesome boss.

These events happen over three stages, the first two of which tend to follow the same pattern: kill a wave, achieve an objective, repeat. The objectives seem to change based on the individual event and what planet you’re playing it on, but all of them tend to follow this pattern.

The final phase is where you step up against a Cabal boss. Generally speaking, this happens over three phases as well, only this time, you’ll do some damage to the boss and then they’ll turn on some kind of impenetrable shield. You’ll need to kill their shield bearers in order to bring down that shield and continue to do damage. Once that’s all over and done with you can kill the boss and loot the final chest, taking home…
